Dear supporters,

To those of you for whom this is the first update,  I would like to thank you, from my mind, my heart and my soul. For those of you original supporters I thank you twice.

Today, I want to give you an update on three fronts: Our honorees, The training and the fund raising.

On the honoree front, I have had the chance to meet four of them, three of them are doing great, one of them is not. Her leukemia is in remission but there have been some complications related to her treatment. The honorees come to some of the events and we find that the collective energy makes all of us feel better. It is also important to remember why we are doing this. I have been made aware by two of you about a relative and a friend who are affected by a related disease, Tim and Dan, you are my personal honorees.

The training: I have now run about 170 miles since February 5th. Today, April 21st, I run the Compaq's Up & Running 10K in a personal record time of 45:15. That is about a 7:04 per mile for 6.4 miles. My average heart rate was 170 bpm which is equivalent to 93% of my max heart rate. The longest run so far was on Saturday april 13th when I run for 15 miles. That felt like a long time on the road... adding 11.2 miles more will be hard. Our coach assure us that is just a mental thing. Yeah right!  I am very happy to report that the 38 year old body is holding well and that the 27 year old mind is doing even better.

The fund raising: With your generous support, I have raised $ 2,900 for the Leukemia society. Thank you! If you would like to practice some of the very effective viral marketing techniques and tell your friends about the cause and the need for support, I will welcome their donations.

You can review my training progress in more detail by visiting http://www.geocities.com/dbigio I have also posted graphs of my heart rate during some of the runs.

Please remember to take full advantage of the gift of a healthy life. And if you are not already, please do some aerobic exercise three times a week for at least 30 minutes. ( The TV will be there when you come back, some of your problems won't)
